[HOME] [THE HOUSE] [THE ROOMS] [HOW TO GET HERE] [LOCAL ACTIVITIES]

My name is Roberto de Mare, I have spent several years of my career in the Italian Air Force working for NATO in AIRSOUTH, two  assignments abroad and then JFC Naples.  When I retired in 2008 as Colonel, I started a new project, to rebuild an old farm-house in Ascea, in the middle of the beautiful area of the Cilento's park (province of Salerno).  After 18 months of hard work my new house is now finished.  In the rear side of the house I have built two nice independent double rooms where I am pleased to guest my former NATO's colleagues friends, whishing to spend few days resting and relaxing in a peaceful area or visiting the several nice locations at short distance from the house.

Il Nido is 160 km away from Naples, and is located almost on top of the second hill from the coastline (the sea is 8 km away) and it enjoys a nice micro-climate.  It's an ideal starting point, away from crowd, traffic and noise, to start excursions either by car, bike or walking, to visit many interesting locations, such as: the Velia tower ruins, the old ruins and museum in Pestum, or the naturalistic WWF oasis located in the Cilento's park, or just to enjoy the genuine food prepared in the local restaurants or during the many sagras organized in the local area.

During spring and summer it will be a must to enjoy the beaches with their crystal clear sea, which receive, since several years, the FEE eco-label blue flag!  I have several friends in the close vicinity running restaurants and pizza places.

The two rooms (north and south) are cosy, both have sat tv, air conditioning and a small kitchen with fridge where you can fix your breakfast with the fresh food provided.  Both rooms have a patio with a table and chairs and there is an external shower and an area to rest in the sun.  Dogs are welcome, if they are well behaved with other dogs and cats (I have 2 femal dogs and two cats).
